Six Steps to help you start writing:

  • First you must decide what you actually want to write. Always have a post it note, a notebook in your car, on your night table or wherever you go bring along a pen and paper or open your computer and jot it down in a word document, notes. Evernote is a wonderful tool that will help you along the way. Log into it here http://evernote.com It is free. You don't know where you will get your inspiration. It doesn't matter if it's only one or two sentence you can then come back and continue writing about those 2 sentences. Create a draft of your writng and always follow an outline this will help you construct your writing later on. This will help you focus later on and then you will be able to create your piece.

  • What are your interests? What's your Passion? You must be interested in what you are writing in order to show it in your writing. Try to use google.com where you can find a whole lot of topics to write about and just focus on one at a time. Keep a notebook handy and write down as many topics as you are interested in. Get yourself together and start writing. It will be a wonderful experience. You don't need a college degree nor a high school diploma since all throughout your years in school you have written over and over again.

  • When you use an outline or a draft it will get you started faster. When you outline wha you are going to write it will be much faster for you to start the flowing of thoughts. Try planning and drafting your next written assignment by hand. Then sit down and type. Thinking and writing away from the computer might make your work go better. This helps with your creativity and getting your juices flowing. Without some sense of direction, J. K. Rowling would never have been able to create such a powerful conclusion on the Harry Potter series.

  • Don't try typing first since there are too many distractions - While you are writng your first draft put on your concentration hat and don't let anything distract you. Turn off your computer since the sounds of incoming e-mails will surely get you away from your writing. Put on some background music. Light up a scent that aromatherapy. Don't ever take a break to check your emails because you will never return to your writing and this will destroy your focus on what you are writing.

  • Set up daily time slots for your writing - Many people like to start writing early in the morning or late at night. Whatever you try maintain it every day for at least one full hour. Put this on your calendar or on you phone to remind you.

  • Be Simple - Don't ever think that what you are writing is not important, you can revise it later on, but don't stop writing. Since this is considered a draft only, you will have to return to it at a later time and then you can read it over again and continue writing. Don't stop to revise. This is a process all on its own. You don't revise while you write since that is a bad habit that many writers confront themselves with. They write and they stop writing to revise. This is a no no because after you stop writing you let your piece sit for a few days then come back and start the revision process. Remember that once you start a draft you continue writing as quickly as you have all the thoughts in your mind and get the foundation of your piece over with in time.

  • Take your time before revising. Once you finish your draft take a break, read a book, take a shower relieve your stress levels, go out and have lunch with a friend, exercise, walk a mile. Being in the right mindset is the best time to start revising your piece. You want to produce a great piece so that you can go and share with your fans, on your website, on your blog.
